» What Is The Most Popular Casino Game?

Something I get asked alot by people who know me is “what is the most played or most popular casino game?”. Generally, I need to ask them what they actually mean. In most cases what they’re actually asking “what is the most popular casino game type”. Is it Poker? Slots? Or is it Blackjack? Maybe its Roulette?

Las Vegas Slot Machines Lined Up
The answer (which also applies to land based casinos) is slot machines, or if you’re from the UK – fruit machines. Then again, Australian’s call them pokie machines.
What about Poker I hear you say? Poker is popular in its own right, but in terms of general gambling, slots are king. Infact, slot machines account for 70% of a casinos total income. The question you might be wondering, is why?
1) Slot Machines Are Easy To Use and Understand!
Slot / fruit / pokie machines are based around three or more reels and spin upon the push of a button. There’s nothing more to them!
2) The Spinning Only Lasts A Few Seconds
The time between pushing or pulling to activate the slot is short. So if you lose, the time between getting your hopes up and praying for the jackpot second, third, forth or tenth time around is very minimal.
3) There is Little, To No Skill Involved
Slot machines don’t take skill, they rely completely on luck (although, I’m sure some very intelligent mathmaticians will disagree with me
) and this is appealing to many, many people – they like their chances!
4) They Don’t Cost Much To Play
Got a dollar spare? Slot it in and hope for the best! Afterall, what else would you be doing with that $/€/£1?
5) They Come In So Many Different Themes!
These days, there are literally hundreds – possibly thousands of different themed slot machines. This adds a bit of personality to each slot and different people will favour different machines simply because of this.
