Your stack will start to get low and the blonds will be eating up your stack too quickly for you to win any real money. You may have to risk your stack in an attempt to give yourself a chance to win the tournament or you may decide to not risk your stack and finish as close to first place as you can.

How you approach this part of the tournament probably depends more on your general make up, if you like to gamble or not. It’s easy for me to sit here and say the correct play is to sit and wait as long as you can but then you may be making sure that you can only win $10-20 instead of $1000.

Online Poker Cash Games Poker Strategy

While your online poker strategy for poker tournaments should revolve around trying to finish as high as you can, the poker strategy for online poker cash games is different again.

The size of your bankroll is super important here and it dictates how you approach online poker cash games and you really need to make sure that you have a bankroll so that you can’t simply be bet out of a pot.

Not only is the size of your bankroll important for being bet out of a pot it also allows players the opportunity to call you when they may fold if there was a possibility they may have to put more of their stack in the middle.

Cash games have table limits in how much you can sit at the table with. If you sit at a table with $30 and all the players have between $100-$200 your $30 raise or all in bet with AQ isn’t going to scare anyone.

A person with A8 suited can call you. Instead of picking up the blinds and any calls ($1-$6) with your $12 raise you get called by A8 suited.

  • You both hit an A on the flop
  • They bet $20 to tell you they hit an Ace.
  • You raise all in with $188 to tell them you hit your Ace with a real good kicker.
  • They fold their A8 and don’t get to see the 8 on the river.
  • You sit at the table with $30 and they are going to call you for another $18 having hit top pair.

They are locked into calling you and its amazing how often the weaker hand gets lucky on the river when you play online poker. Don’t worry, you will be on the winning and losing side of that.

Texas Hold Em Poker Tips

The most important of all the Texas Hold Em Poker Tips is to be patient. Patience is a virtue and the longer you can wait before showing all your chips into the middle the more money you will win playing online poker in your spare time.

Far too many online poker players will shove all their hips in the middle with AK or Ace anything when the blinds start to increase. Wait until you have a hand and take their chips.

You will be able to spot the aggressive players and you will just know that they are stealing chips far too often. A good poker player will almost always let you just take that bet they had and will concentrate on stealing the blinds again rather than risk any damage to their stack going in against you.

Remember that while you want to go over the top and take their chips when they are stealing the blinds you will have to remember that you need to steal some blinds too during the poker tournament or you will get wiped out from the blinds.

The more you play and the size of your chip stack will dictate how often you steal blinds.

At some point you will probably play some Freeroll Poker Tournaments online. It’s important to understand that you will need a slightly different strategy for these events than you would for a regular tournament.

With the freeroll poker tournament being a free tournament the majority of players play it for fun. They play many hands that they would normally fold because they are playing for the sake of playing, it’s a game to them rather than an actual poker tournament.

This does change the later you get into the tournament and then it becomes just like any other online poker tournament but in the early rounds you need to beware of players calling with any 2 cards.
